How Exercise Helps Build Stronger Bones
Bone is living tissue. Three sessions a week at a decent intensity, and it remodels itself around the load.

Many believe bones are hard structures that remain constant all through life. But, bones are living tissue, continuously undergoing bone turnover where old cells get replaced by new ones. This bone remodeling ensures the bones adapt to the pressures and needs and remain healthy for an extended period.
Another critical factor affecting bone health is the level of physical activities one engages in. As suggested by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, weight-bearing exercises such as running, walking, dancing, jumping, stair climbing, or participating in different types of sports make bones bear more weight.
These activities stimulate bones to withstand the load put upon them. The message conveyed to the body is to either maintain or increase bone mineral density. Resistance exercise is another type of physical activity that can help enhance bone mineral density. Weight-lifting, resistance band exercise, and body-weight activities such as pushups add extra burden to both bones and muscles. When muscles grow strong, bones also become strong. Resistance exercise helps build not only muscles but also makes bones strong.
In contrast, a sedentary lifestyle may lead to weakened bones due to lack of stimuli for their development. As a result, there will be an increased probability of injuries and diseases like osteoporosis in the future. Indeed, studies show that physical inactivity contributes to the development of these problems because people have weakened bones.
To stay healthy, scientists advise people to train no less than three times a week for half an hour at a decent intensity of activity and include muscle training exercises in their program. Healthy activity will enable people to create strong bones and keep them healthy in the future. So, for students, engaging in various sports, walking on the campus, attending PE lessons, and being physically active is not only good for fitness but also helps to develop healthy bones.
