Lando Norris Wins the Formula 1 World Championship

"Lando Norris crosses the line and for the first time in his racing career he is Formula 1 champion of the world!" says the F1 commentator as Lando Norris passes through the checkered flag of the Yas Marina Circuit.

Norris, fully in tears on his final lap, his voice crackled over the radio saying "Thank you guys, oh my God. You have made a kid's dreams come true, thank you so much. I love you guys. Thanks for everything, you deserve it. I love you mum, I love you dad. Thanks for everything. I'm not crying".

The 2025 season was the first since 2010 to feature a three way fight between the drivers.

The 2025 season opened with Piastri leading Norris by 34 points and Verstappen by 104 to just sixteen points separating the three title contenders by the final race. While victory in the season finale went to Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri claimed second place, a P3 result was enough for Lando Norris to take the crown by two points from Verstappen.

After being crowned, he reflected how it all felt surreal saying "The last 16 to 17 years of my life I've been trying to chase this dream and today we all did it, so I'm pretty happy." He also says "I believe I won the championship this year my way, by being a fair driver, by trying to be an honest driver."

This makes Lando Norris the 35th World Champion of Formula 1, Britain's 11th, and the first McLaren driver to win the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2008. After losing the 2024 championship to Verstappen, Norris boldly stated how "Next year is going to be my year."

And he proved it right.
